#Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Manga Series to Have 120 Million Copies Released With Final Volume

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Even with the final volume of Koyoharu Gotouge's ever-popular manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the series continues to not only break records but also break those records it already set itself. Oricon reported today that Shueisha announced that with the release of the regular edition and bundled edition of volume 23 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba on December 4, the series will have 120 million copies released and sold through to stores (including digital versions).

The final volume of Demon Slayer will have a print run of 3.95 million copies, which exceeds the last print run for volume 22 at 3.7 million copies. While this a huge amount, it still doesn't exceed the historic print run for One Piece volume 67 at 4.05 million copies. Just before the TV anime of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba aired, the manga had only a cumulative total was 3.5 million copies released.

At 120 million copies, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will have had more than 80 million copies sold this year alone. In January, we reported that at the release of volume 19, the series had 40 million copies released and sold. With so many copies, Demon Slayer has topped the yearly chart and has sold more copies this year than any other manga has sold in a year in modern manga history – One Piece's highest was just shy of 38 million copies in 2011, Demon Slayer is double that amount in this year alone.

Demon Slayer has surpassed Attack on Titan, Astro Boy, and Fist of the North Star, all at 100 million copies, and is currently on par with Bleach, which is also at 120 million copies released.

It was also announced that Koyoharu Gotouge has penned 14 new pages for the final chapter of the story, as well as 25 bonus pages for the volume, fleshing out the ending just that little bit more for fans of the series. The side story mangas that focus on Giyu Tomioka and Kyojuro Rengoku will also be released in one volume titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Side-Story, which will also have a record-breaking 1 million copy print run, a first for a side-story manga not from the original author.
