“#TV Anime Otherside Picnic Unveils New Key Visual Featuring Its Two Main Girls Embracing Each Other”

The official website for the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Iori Miyazawa's sci-fi yuri light novel series Isekai Picnic / Otherside Picnic is updated with a new key visual featuring its two protagonist girls -Sorao Kamikoshi and Toriko Nishina- embracing each other.

In addition to the previously announced Yumiri Hanamori as Sorao Kamikoshi and Ai Kayano as Toriko Nishina, the site has announced two additional voice cast members.

Rina Hidaka is cast as Kozakura, a researcher of The Otherworld who lives near the Shakujii Park in Nerima Ward, Tokyo. As Sorao and Toriko explore The Otherwold, she becomes their advisor.

Miyu Tomita plays Akari Seto, who attends the same college as Sorao and encounters a monstrosity.

The novel series has been released by Hayakawa Publishing since February 2017, and so far four volumes have been available in Japan. Its English edition has been released by J-Novel Club since September 2019. The publisher introduces its synopsis as below:

Her first encounter with Toriko Nishina was on the Otherside after seeing "that thing" and nearly dying. Ever since that day, exhausted university student Sorawo Kamikoshi's life changed. In this Otherworld, full of mystery, which exists alongside our own, dangerous beings like the Kunekune and Hasshaku-sama that are spoken of in real ghost stories appear. For research, for profit, and to find an important person, Toriko and Sorawo set foot into the abnormal. A tale of two girls' bizarre exploration and survival, brought to you by an up-and-coming Sci-fi author!

The Takuya Sato (RErideD: Derrida, who leaps through time)-directed TV anime adaptation is set to premiere in Japan in January 2021.
