“Shakugan no Shana” is an anime series that starts off rather slowly. The fights are still manageable, instead the background and the parallel world are explained in the first episodes. In addition, the relationship between the protagonist Yuji and the Flame Haze Shana is thematized, which gradually builds up. The calm Yuji meets the very impulsive Shana, which means that the humor is inevitable.

Overall, the entry is still very calm and gives only a small impression of where the story can develop. Even if the background of the anime is promising and especially the main characters seem very interesting, the tension is still limited.

However, the series can convince with the quality of the animations, which are not always very sharp due to their age, but are nevertheless timeless. The German implementation from TNT Media GmbH from Berlin was also consistently very successful. All people were cast with the appropriate vocals and the dialogues are coherent in terms of content. It should be emphasized that both the opening and the ending were implemented in German. In the menu you can also choose whether you want to see the anime with a German or Japanese soundtrack. For the soundtrack, however, not only the lyrics and the vocals were Germanized, even the melody was replayed based on the Japanese original. This is not offered by any other anime release in Germany. After the RTL II anime era, the soundtrack will generally be left in Japanese. One must clearly praise the use of FilmConfect and emanmia ANIME, who spared neither expense nor effort to give the anime a very high quality localization.

The packaging and its extras are also extremely good. The collection slipcase is optically held in a beautiful, matte red tone with two appealing and color-coordinated artworks. The mediabook is kept rather simple, with the matt finish being broken up by targeted high-gloss elements (flame, eyes of Shana and Alastor followers), which in the overall package is very coherent and of high quality. The plush figure that is also included is well thought out as an extra, but was only able to convince me to a limited extent in terms of the processing quality and the level of detail.
In summary, it should be mentioned that FilmConfect and emania ANIME brought an old but long-awaited title to Germany. There is nothing to complain about in the German version either and I particularly liked the opening and ending sung in German. In terms of content, I can’t say too much yet, as not much has happened yet, but the setting basically makes you happy for more!
