The daughter of a Michigan state House candidate has begged residents not to vote for her dad in a now-viral tweet.

Stephanie Regan, the daughter of a conservative Republican candidate Robert Regan, has racked up more than 173,000 likes on her Tuesday post hoping to sink her father’s campaign.

“if you’re in Michigan and 18 pls for the love of god do not vote for my dad for state rep. tell everyone,” she wrote.

“Do a quick fb or google search to find info about his campaign,” she went on in a follow-up Tweet. “I don’t feel safe rn sharing further information regarding his beliefs, but please look him up and just read for yourself.”

Her father responded to the tweets Thursday with a four-paragraph, 193-word statement in which he expresses his love for his children and the importance of the 1st Amendment.

“I am happy that she feels confident enough in our relationship to express her opposing thoughts so publicly,” he said in the statement posted to Facebook.

“I love all of my four children and only want what’s best for them,” he added. “We may not always agree on ‘what is best’ but, their best, is my goal.”

The candidate for state representative is facing off against two other Republicans in an August 2020 primary. He told The Hill Thursday the two have strongly disagreed on recent discourse around systemic racism, white privilege and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Robert Regan blamed his daughter’s mindset on a liberal education she received while attending the University of Colorado in Boulder.

“A lot of students when they go off to these liberal university campuses, like the University of Colorado, the University of Texas and Austin,” he told the outlet. “And she went to the University of Colorado in Boulder — and you know, they just kind of get sucked into this Marxist, communist ideology and she and I just don’t see eye to eye when it comes to the whole socialism, communism, Marxist philosophy.”

Regan, unlike his daughter, said he does not believe in systemic racism.

“She’s a big believer in that,” he reportedly said. “The only place where I really see systemic racism would be the abortion clinic cause they seem to target the African American community.”

Stephanie, meanwhile, was shocked by the response to her tweet and kept at it with another post Thursday.

“i didn’t think anyone past hometown friends would see this but this is more than political beliefs!! ppl see a familiar name & vote. READ. GOOGLE,” she tweeted.

To one user who expressed shock by her posts, she responded, “sry lol blood is not thicker than water.”
