#‘Doomsday’ mom called husband from jail on day kids’ bodies were found

“Doomsday” cult mom Lori Vallow asked her husband in a call from jail if police were searching his house the day her children’s bodies were discovered on his property, according to the recorded conversation played in court Tuesday.

Vallow called Chad Daybell on June 9, 2020, at 11:03 a.m. “Are they seizing stuff?” she asked Daybell. “They’re searching,” he replied in the muffled audio. Most of the brief recording was inaudible, but at one point Vallow asked Daybell, “What can I do for you?” before he tells her, “I love you so much.”

She replies, “I love you. Should I try to call you later?”

Daybell, in a distressed tone, answered, “I don’t know, I don’t know. You can try. I’ll answer if I can.”

The recording of the call was played at the second day of hearings in the Fremont County Courthouse to determine whether Daybell’s case will remain in state court.

On the afternoon of the day it was made, investigators discovered the corpses of her autistic son Joshua “JJ” Vallow and his 17-year-old sister, Tylee Ryan, on a section of Daybell’s property in Rexburg, Idaho.

JJ was found bound like a mummy in duct tape and plastic near his sister’s badly charred corpse in a pet cemetery, the court heard Monday.

Vallow and Daybell were part of a doomsday cult called Preparing a People, which believes in prepping for a second coming of Jesus Christ and the end of days.

One of Vallow’s friends has said the mom repeatedly told her last year that JJ and Tylee had become “zombies” — and that the only way to get rid of an evil spirit was to kill the possessed person.

Daybell and wife Vallow, who is expected to have a hearing at a later date, are accused of concealing evidence by hiding the children’s bodies — but they are not charged with murder. They’re each being held on $1 million bond.
