#Cuomo’s political vaccine games now endangering lives

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s politicization of the coronavirus vaccines is clearly endangering New Yorkers’ health. It was already old; now he must quit it.

Wednesday, after announcing that New York will get 170,000 vaccine doses to distribute by mid-December, the gov, without skipping a beat, slammed the feds for failing to provide the state with “any funding to speak of” to distribute the vaccine.

Untrue: Federal sources told The Post that the state has more than $7.5 million available for just that, thanks to the CARES Act — but Cuomo hasn’t spent a dime. The city has a separate $6.6 million in untapped federal funds for vaccine distribution.

Cuomo was clear that the state desperately needs financial help for distribution, so why leave this cash on the table? Did the gov not know, because he’s been boycotting all meetings with President Trump’s (non-political!) COVID planners?

Maybe it’s just that taking the money might be seen as admitting that Trump is doing something right — and that not everything good flows from the self-promoting author of “Leadership.”

Note, too, that Cuomo has devoted time and energy to setting up his “expert review panel” to second-guess the professional federal regulators who approved the vaccine. That review won’t delay distribution, we’re told — will it do anything, other than add to the governor’s political theater?

Similarly, Cuomo has thundered about the supposed injustice of federal distribution plans — when those plans center on letting states decide for themselves.

We’ll cross our fingers and hope that New York’s failure to use the federal funds doesn’t delay a single dose. But Cuomo needs to focus on ensuring that frontline health workers and other first responders, plus highly at-risk civilians, get their shots ASAP.

People’s lives are in your hands, governor — stop the shameful posturing.
