The cult anime series “The Queen of a Thousand Years” will soon be released on DVD for the first time!

Im March 1991 the transmitter showed TELE 5 the anime “The Queen of a Thousand Years” for the first time on German television. The second and last broadcast of the series followed a year later. Since then, the German version has been practically “lost”, as no other official home theater release has taken place – until now.

Like the company Pidax Film has now announced that «The Queen of a Thousand Years» will soon appear on DVD for the first time. So should on 16. April 2021 the first volume come on the market. This includes 21 episodes on three DVDs. The episodes will be published with the German dubbed version. Only the Recap episode 20 is available as a subtitles version, as it was not broadcast on German television at the time.

The series is based on the manga of the same name by Leiji Matsumoto, which appeared between 1980 and 1983. From 1981 Toei Animation produced the 42-part anime. A film adaptation was also released, but it never made it to Germany.

Tokyo, spring 1999: Hajime is 14 years old and lives in the Japanese capital with his parents. He still goes to school, but is much more interested in space and the stars. After his parents are killed in a mysterious explosion, he moves in with his uncle, who lives and works in the Tsukuba observatory. It was just discovered there that there is a tenth planet in our solar system that is racing towards earth and is supposed to collide with it on 9.9.1999. Hajime befriends Yayoi Yukino, his uncle’s assistant. The fourteen-year-old is then more and more involved in the history of the tenth planet, a secret organization called “The Thieves of the 1000 Years” and a mysterious “Queen of the 1000 Years” …
