“Cucuruz Doan’s Island Coming to UK, North America, Australia”

Crunchyroll has announced its plans to bring Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan to the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Australia. The film will only be available for two days in all territories but Australia, which gets the film for one week.

Below are the screening dates for the film:

United Kingdom — September 21 and 22; ticket sales starts September 16

United States — September 27 and 28; tickets now on sale

Canada — September 29 and October 1; tickets now on sale 

Australia — September 29 onwards; ticket sales start September 14

Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island premiered in Japan on June 3. It is based on the original Mobile Suit Gundam series’ 15th episode. Crunchyroll describes the plot as:

After a covert mission goes wrong, Mobile Suit pilot Amuro Ray and his comrades are stranded on a remote island. The battalion was sent to a land called the Island of No Return to clear off any enemy forces, only to find a group of children and an enemy mecha attack. Now Amuro must find a way for them all to escape this mysterious land, but not before meeting a strange man—Cucuruz Doan.

Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the character designer and animation director of Mobile Suit Gundam, is the movie’s director. Other staff includes Im Ga-Hee (Sonny Boy episode director) as assistant director, Toshizou Nemoto (Bakuten!!) as scriptwriter, Yuuji Kaneko (Josee, Tiger and the Fish) as art director, Nagisa Abe (SCARLET NEXUS) as color designer, Morihito Abe (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway co-CG director) as CG director, and Takayuki Hattori (Space Brothers live-action movie) as music composer. 

Additionally, Yasuhiko, Atsushi Tamura (Weathering with You co-character designer) and Tsukasa Kotobuki (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin co-character designer) are serving as character designers, while Hajime Katoki (Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway co-mecha designer), Kunio Okawara (GUNDAM BREAKER BATTLOGUE co-mecha designer, Mobile Suit Gundam) and Kimitoshi Yamane (Mobile Fighter G Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway co-mecha designer) are serving as mecha designers. Sunrise is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Tooru Furuya as Amuro Ray, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Cucuruz Doan, Ken Narita as Bright Noa, Satomi Arai as Mirai Yashima, Megumi Han as Sayla Mass, Toshio Furukawa as Kai Shiden, Hideki Nakanishi as Hayato Kobayashi, Misato Fukuen as Fraw Bow, and Tomofumi Ikezoe as Sleggar Law.
