“Crunchyroll – Japan Box Office Top 10: Demon Slayer -To the Swordsmith Village”

 

 

Prior to the premiere of the TV anime third season in April, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- was released in 377 theaters across Japan on February 3, 2023, then earned an impressive 1.159 billion yen (9 million USD) on 813,000 admissions, making its No.1 debut as expected.

 

The 110-minute feature film edition contains the 10th and 11th episodes of the TV anime second season Entertainment District Arc and the first episode of the forthcoming third season Swordsmith Village Arc in 4K with remastered audio. On February 4 and 5, the voice actors gave stage greetings at theaters, which were also broadcast live nationwide on both days. The film will be screened in Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, Mexico City, Seoul, and Taipei as part of the World Tour Screening.

THE FIRST SLAM DUNK ranked third in its tenth weekend with 288 million yen (2.24 million USD) on 193,000 admissions, bringing its total to 9.9 billion yen (76.98 million USD) on 6.82 million admissions. The film is expected to finally reach the 10 billion yen mark in a day or two.

Makoto Shinkai’s latest feature Suzume earned an estimated 240 million yen (1.87 million USD) during its 12th week run in Japan, and ranked fifth, one position down from the previous 11th weekend. The film’s cumulative total domestic gross has reached 13.4 billion yen (104.1 million USD). It has become Shinkai’s third film that has surpassed the 10 million ticket sales following Your Name. (2016) and Weathering With You (2019).

After making its sixth in its opening weekend, the anime film adaptation of Nao Iwamoto’s romance fantasy manga Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni / Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom ranked tenth in its second weekend.
