This week officially marked the beginning of another series in the Crunchyroll Summer 2021 Simulcast lineup, with the first episode of Battle Game in 5 Seconds going live on Monday. Now that we’ve had a chance to get a taste of what’s to come this season, let’s take a closer look at the adaptation of the manga by writer Miyako Kashiwa and illustrator Saiza Harawata in our full spotlight!

A new kind of battle of abilities for a new generation is about to begin! It all started on a regular morning like any other. Akira Shiroyanagi is a high school kid who loves nothing more than konpeito candy and games. One day, he ends up in a fight due to a mysterious girl named Mion. Mion then tells the people she had gathered that they no longer officially exist in any records. They were given powers and were about to be test subjects. Akira makes up his mind to use his powers to climb up the ranks and then crush this organization. Armed with unexpected abilities and unique powers, a battle using various abilities for the new generation is about to begin!!

Miyako Kashiwa and Saiza Harawata’s original manga launched on Shogakukan’s MangaONE app and the Ura Sunday website back in August of 2015, and this past March saw the release of the sixteenth collected volume. The series is officially available to read in English as of this week, with Comikey Media licensing the title digitally.
