#Aaron Judge’s return to Yankees appears imminent

With all three Subway Series games postponed this weekend at Citi Field, the belief is that Aaron Judge will be ready to come off the injured list whenever the Yankees’ season resumes.

That could be Monday if the Yankees and Mets play one or two makeup games, which has been discussed.

“That is the thought, he should be ready. For our next game he should be ready to go,’’ Aaron Boone said of the right fielder who has been shelved with a right calf injury.

As for second baseman DJ LeMahieu’s left thumb injury, Boone was upbeat.

“I’d say he is doing significantly better than I anticipated at this point. I think it will be sooner rather than later. He took some dry swings for the first time [Friday] and played catch for the first time,’’ Boone said. “I think the initial prognosis was two to three weeks. I think that is going to be a fair estimate.’’

The Yankees will work out Saturday and Sunday in The Bronx after about half their roster was at Yankee Stadium on Friday.

“Judge and [Giancarlo] Stanton were in hitting and DJ played catch today and [Zack] Britton and some of our guys needed treatment and pitchers who needed to play catch, so we had a dozen to 15 guys,’’ Boone said.

Boone said Aroldis Chapman will likely face hitters Saturday or Sunday.

Based on his history of leaving the Yankees and returning, keep a light on at Yankee Stadium for right-hander David Hale.

Friday, the Yankees dealt the 32-year-old right-hander to the Phillies for 25-year-old righty reliever Addison Russ. The Yankees designated Hale for assignment on Monday. It is the fourth time in the last three seasons the Princeton University product has been designated for assignment by the Yankees.

Russ is 15-10 with 50 saves, a 2.48 ERA in 152 ²/₃ innings and 200 strikeouts in 126 relief appearances in three minor league seasons with the Phillies. Last year he pitched for Double-A Reading and went 5-6 with 22 saves and a 2.54 ERA in 55 games. He was with the Phillies in spring training as a non-roster invitee. The Yankees added Russ to their 60-man roster and assigned him to their alternate site in Scranton.

Hale made five relief appearances with the Yankees this season, posting a 3.00 ERA in six innings with one save. In 28 games with the Yankees from 2018-20, Hale had a 3-0 record with a 2.98 ERA.
