#Cottonelle wipes recalled over potential bacteria contamination

Heads up, coronavirus hoarders: Cottonelle Flushable Wipes have just been recalled due to a potential bacterial contamination.

Personal care giant Kimberly-Clark has recalled specific lots of Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle GentlePlus Flushable Wipes manufactured between Feb. 7 and Sept. 14.

The products may contain Pluralibacter gergovaie, a common household microorganism that can cause infections.

“Individuals who have a weakened immune system, suffer from serious pre-existing conditions, have been treated surgically, or belong to another sensitive group of persons are at particular risk of infection,” the company said in a statement Friday.

“At this time there is a low rate of non-serious complaints, such as irritation and minor infection, reported for the affected wipes,” it added.

The company noted that there “is no evidence to support the transmission of COVID-19 associated with any of our products,” adding that the wipes were not contaminated by a coronavirus-infected employee.
