The way to an otaku’s heart is through cosplay in a newly announced TV anime adaptation for 2.5 Dimensional Seduction (known as 2.5 Jigen no Yuuwaku or 2.5 Jigen no Lilysa in Japan), a hot-blooded romantic comedy manga by Yu Hashimoto. The cast, staff, and release date for the TV anime have not been published yet, although teaser visuals (above and below) and an official website have been published for the series.

The original 2.5 Dimensional Seduction manga is serialized by Shueisha in their Shōnen Jump+ manga magazine, and so far 15 collected volumes have also been published in Japan. An English language version of the series is also available from Seven Seas Entertainment, who describe the story of 2.5 Dimensional Seduction as follows:

“I have no interest in real girls!” So claims Okumura, the president of the school’s manga club. He’s your typical otaku, obsessed with a sexy (fictional) 2D manga character known as Liliel. Then the new school year starts, and a (real!) 3D girl named Lilysa whose passion is cosplay joins the club. Lilysa convinces Okumura to become her photographer–and guess who her favorite manga character is? Not only that, but Lilysa is into modeling the fetishy stuff! The boundaries between 2D and 3D start to blur as this hot-blooded romantic comedy unfolds.
