Publisher XSEED Games announced that it will release Corpse Party (2021), a remake of the original 1996 game of the same name developed by Team GrisGris for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, GOG, and Humble Store on October 20. The game first released in February 28 in Japan as Corpse Party: Blood Covered…Repeated Fear. An announcement trailer was also released.
The remake includes 16 Extra Chapters with different endings and two original chapters that focus on the relationship between Ayumi and Yoshiki, new fully voiced Japanese audio, and two new characters named Miku Shirayume and Ryoka Iwami.
The game will also receive a percent-off launch week discount which will only be for PlayStation Plus members on PS4. Additionally, the game’s PC version will also be available bundled with the original 1996 Corpse Party with a 25 percent-off discount. Owners of either version on Steam or GOG can also purchase the other version of the game on the same platform with a 25 percent-off discount.
The game’s Steam page describes the story as:
A friendship ritual gone awry transports high school student Ayumi Shinozaki and her friends to an alternate reality version of a tragedy-stricken institution that stood on the site of their own school long ago. As the vengeful spirits of elementary school students threaten their lives and their sanity, their only hope of survival—much less escape—is to uncover the chilling details surrounding the murders of those trapped before them.
