#Conde Nast taps Axios reporter Alexi McCammond for EIC at Teen Vogue

The Axios political reporter whose relationship with a Biden aide made headlines after he threatened a reporter looking to expose the affair has been tapped to be the next editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.

Conde Nast says it has hired Alexi McCammond, 27, to be the next editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue, a digital-only fashion title that has frequently tackled political issues.

McCammond, who was tapped as a 2019 “Emerging Journalist of the Year” by the National Association of Black Journalists, had been at Axios since 2017, where she covered both the Biden White House and the Trump White House.

She replaces Lindsay Wagner Peoples, who ran the teen mag since November 2017 before being tapped in January to run New York Magazine’s fashion vertical, The Cut.

McCammond made headlines last month after Biden deputy press secretary TJ Ducklo was accused of threatening Politico reporter Tara Palmeri for investigating his relationship with McCammond.

“I will destroy you,” Ducklo, 32, reportedly told Palmeri, according to Vanity Fair. He then claimed Palmeri was “jealous” that a different man had “wanted to f–k” McCammond “and not you,” the report said.

After the Vanity Fair story ran, Ducklo was initially suspended for a week but resigned on Feb. 13.

“Still pinching myself!” McCammond, who began her career as a freelancer for Hearst’s Cosmopolitan, tweeted. “In a few weeks I’ll join Conde Nast as the new editor of Teen Vogue. I’m endlessly grateful to @axios for believing in me and helping me grow as a reporter (and a human) over the last four years.”

Anna Wintour, global editorial director of Vogue and chief content officer of Condé Nast, said in a statement, “Alexi has the powerful curiosity and confidence that embodies the best of our next generation of leaders.”
