“#‘Married at First Sight’: Meet the new Season 11 couples”
Ten strangers from New Orleans have been matched by three relationship experts and will meet for the first time as they’re getting married. For two months, cameras will follow them as they go on a honeymoon, move in together and otherwise combine their lives — before deciding if they will remain married or get a divorce.
The air date for the season premiere of the hit Lifetime reality show is Wednesday, July 15, at 8 p.m. EST. Filming for the show started before the coronavirus pandemic hit and continued as lockdown set in, meaning viewers will get to see how the newlyweds deal with the additional stress of a global pandemic.
Matchmakers Dr. Viviana Coles, Dr. Pepper Schwartz and pastor Calvin Roberson are all returning. Fans can catch a pre-premiere special about the couple-making process on July 8 at 8 p.m. EST.
From last season, which took place in D.C., only one of the five couples is still together.
Get to know the new singles taking the plunge below.
Amani and Woody
Amani, 29, works at a nonprofit and hopes to one day open her own organization dedicated to children. Although she was raised in Chicago, she came to New Orleans to attend college. She hopes to find a partner with whom she can start a family and travel.
Woody, 30, was born and raised in the Big Easy, where he works as a teacher and coach. He has a strong sense of self and is close with his mother.
Amelia and Bennett
Arranged marriages aren’t unique to Amelia: her grandparents were wed that way. The 27-year-old from Richmond, Virginia, is currently completing her medical residency, following in the footsteps of her doctor mother.
Bennett, 28, works as the artistic director of a theater company. Although he’s been looking for love for four years, the Montvale, NJ, native has been through a difficult string of bad relationships.
Christina and Henry
Christina is ready to find love after recently getting out of a 5-year-long relationship. The 30-year-old flight attendant was raised by a single mother in Houma, Louisiana.
Henry, 35, is sick of dating apps and being set up. He hopes “MAFS” will be the change of pace he needs. The Arabi, Louisiana-native works as a clinical recruiter and is looking to settle down.
Karen and Miles
Karen, 30, works as a consultant in New Orleans. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she’s struggled with dating and has been single for the last five years. She hopes the show will lead her to her right match.
At 26, Miles is the youngest participant this season. Originally from South Carolina, he’s passionate about education and loves working with children and teens. He currently feels limited by the dating process.
Olivia and Brett
Olivia, 30, has a Master of Science degree in nursing. Although she left her home of Bossier City, Louisiana, to work at clinics in Iowa, she returned to Louisiana to be closer to home. She now works at a comprehensive stroke center and hopes to devote as much time to her relationship as she has on her career.
Brett, 35, works in IT: He recently earned his AWS Cloud Practitioner certification. The Gretna, Louisiana, native is intrigued by the idea of an arranged marriage because of its historical significance.
