#Common Quizzes Jennifer Hudson About Potential Marriage
The Chicago rhymer stopped by The Jennifer Hudson Show with Pete Rock this week as they continue to promote their joint LP, The Auditorium Vol. 1.
At one point, Jennifer playfully noted he’d brought up the topic of marrying her during their recent promotional run, and in turn, Common flipped the table and began quizzing her on the subject.
“I was asked about marriage and I just answered honestly. You told me a quote that your mother said, ‘A man knows what he wants.’ And I was just saying my true feelings,” he said. “Like listen, Jennifer is the true person. If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson. I was just being honest. Now wait. Where do you stand on that?”
Laughing, she replied: “My mother was right. I think that if she had met you, she’d say, ‘I don’t know about the rest of them, but that Common is alright with me.’ And I would agree. I think it’s a beautiful thing, I think you are a deserving man and I support that idea. I think it’s a beautiful idea. Now hold on – in due time, if it ever gets to that place.”
Common concluded: “I’m listening to God more and more and I feel like I know what purpose is and I feel like this is purpose right here and now.”
Back in July while appearing on The Breakfast Club, Common, who has never been married, suggested that if he were to ever to tie the knot, it would be to the Dreamgirls star.
“If I’m gonna get married, it’s to her. Simple as that,” he said after co-host Charlamagne Tha God pressed him about the future of their relationship.
Common further gushed over his romance with the singer, actress and talk show host, saying: “This is definitely — with all due respect to all the women I’ve dated ’cause it’s all love — but this is a really healthy and beautiful relationship.”
He also spoke highly of their mutual Chi-Town roots: “Having a lady from Chicago, that has allowed me to home and just be home. I hadn’t done that in a while where I was just going home and being around my loved ones and having no work to do.
“That helped me with this album [The Auditorium Vol. 1 with Pete Rock] because going to your roots, you gotta always recharge and plug in to them roots. I feel like that’s what I wanted to give to Chicago again.”
He added: “When you’re with somebody who’s from where you from, it’s a different kind of connection.”
Actress Tiffany Haddish, who dated Common between 2020 and 2021, had nothing but love for her former partner and expressed as much online.
Responding to an Instagram comment which said: “Well there he said it he wants to marry her he ain’t neva said that about no woman b4,” Haddish replied: “EXACTLY! I hope they actually get married.”
