#Class Is Back In Session For TV’s Best Comedy

“Class Is Back In Session For TV’s Best Comedy”

Based on the trailer, Janine (Brunson) is still doing the most, leading what looks to be a development mixer for a new mentorship program that … no one is as enthused about as she is. Gregory (Williams) has finally embraced his position as an educator rather than an administrator, and his budding friendship with school custodian Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) looks to be in full bloom. To no one’s surprise, Barbara (Ralph) continues to be the voice of reason, delivering the powerful line, “Being a teacher is being asked to show up every day and try our best.”

“Abbott Elementary” is created, executive produced, and written by Brunson, with Patrick Schumacker, Justin Halpern, and Randall Einhorn also executive producing. Earlier this year, Brunson made history as the first Black woman to receive three comedy Emmy nominations, with the series already nabbing the statue for Outstanding Casting in a Comedy Series. At the time of publication, the remaining results of the show’s additional nominations have yet to be announced, including Lead Actress – Comedy Series for Brunson, Supporting Actor – Comedy Series for Williams, Supporting Actress – Comedy Series for Ralph and James, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Brunson, and Outstanding Comedy Series.

The second season of “Abbott Elementary” premieres on September 21, 2022.
