Japanese cosplayer Akari Akase is also one of the most famous Japanese TikTokers, who has more than 1.2 million followers. She has made her singer debut with the ED theme song “Koi no Yukue” (Where does love go?) for the winter 2022 TV anime My Dress-Up Darling, and the song’s music video featuring her various cosplay costumes is now streamed on her official YouTube channel.

In the video, she cosplays as the anime’s main heroine Marin Kitagawa in school uniform, as well as Shizuku Kuroe and Black Lobelia, two game characters who appeared in the anime story. The cosplay wig set and makeup was done by Akari Akase herself. “Please pay attention to the world view full of glittering dreams,” she says. “For example, one scene of the classroom shows a colorful space like a school festival, which gives the feeling of the intersection of the extraordinary and the everyday.”

The TV anime adaptation of Shinichi Fukuda’s cosplay-themed rom-com manga My Dress-Up Darling premiered in Japan on January 8, 2022, and its first episode “Someone Who Lives in the Exact Opposite World as Me” is now available for the Crunchyroll Premium members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, MENA and India.

Synopsis:

Wakana Gojo is a high school boy who wants to become a kashirashi–a master craftsman who makes traditional Japanese Hina dolls. Though he’s gung-ho about the craft, he knows nothing about the latest trends, and has a hard time fitting in with his class.
