Former President Obama congratulated former Vice President Joe Biden on officially being given the Democratic nomination for president.

“Congrats, Joe. I’m proud of you,” the former commander-in-chief wrote on Twitter late Tuesday evening.

Obama’s tweet came just after the party’s primary race finally came to an end with the delegate roll call, which took place virtually during Tuesday night’s festivities at the Democratic National Convention.

During that event, the former vice president trounced his main primary rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), to formally became the Democratic presidential nominee, winning 3,558 delegates to 1,151.

“Well, thank you very, very much. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all,” Biden said in his brief remarks.

“It means the world to me and my family and I’ll see you on Thursday,” he continued, before giving his wife a kiss.

“It is the honor of my life to accept the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States of America,” he tweeted Tuesday after the roll call had completed.

Presidential candidates have been known to make appearances in the days leading up to their keynote speeches, but usually tend to limit their remarks until then.

Biden’s speech, where he will formally accept the Democratic nomination for president, is on Thursday evening.

Obama, meanwhile, will headline Wednesday night’s events along with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), who will formally accept the party’s vice presidential nomination.

The former president will face steep competition from his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, to steal the show.

During her speech Monday, the former first lady criticized President Trump, calling him “the wrong president for our country” who was “clearly in over his head.”

“Let me be as honest and clear as I possibly can. Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country.

“He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is,” she said.
