Captain Tsubasa Season 2: Junior Youth Arc, a new TV anime series based on Yoichi Takahashi’s internationally popular soccer-themed sports manga, is set to premiere on the TV Tokyo network in Japan in October 2023. It will be a sequel to the fourth TV anime aired from 2018 to 2019.

The manga has been adapted into TV anime four times – the 128-episode first series in 1983-1986, the 47-episode second series Captain Tsubasa J in 1994-1995, the 52-episode third series in 2001-2002, and the 52-episode fourth series in 2018-2019. In the second season of the fourth TV anime, the “Junior Youth Arc” of the original manga, set at an international junior youth tournament held in Paris, France, will be adapted into anime for the first time.

The fourth anime’s main voice cast members, including Yuko Sanpei as the protagonist Tsubasa Ozora, will all return. “I am filled with the joy of being able to play soccer with everyone again!” she said. “This time, we are flying out of Japan to face rivals from all over the world. We hope that many people will be able to see the soccer of each country and unique rivals. Of course! Nankatsu is not backing down either. Now we will take on a challenge as one team, along with the rivals that we have fought for the top of Japan. Please support them as they overcome obstacles and deepen their bond through soccer!
