#Capitol cop struck by car died from blunt force head injuries

The Capitol Police officer who was killed in a vehicular attack by a devout Nation of Islam follower died of multiple blunt force injuries to his head, according to a report.

William “Billy” Evans’ death also has been ruled a homicide, the Washington Post reported, citing the DC’s medical examiner.

The slain officer will lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda next week.

Evans, 41, died after he and another officer were run down April 2 by Noah Green, 25, whose since-deleted Facebook page described him as a follower of the Nation of Islam.

Green was shot and killed by police after he exited the car at a barricade and allegedly lunged at police with a knife.

Relatives of the 18-year veteran of the force have released a statement saying: “Billy was the best father, son, brother, and friend anyone could ever hope for.

They added that “Billy was proud to be a United States Capitol Police Officer. His colleagues from the North Barricade were the people he spent so many hours with, and their friendship was one of the best parts of his job.”

Evans is the most recent Capitol Police officer to die this year following Brian Sicknick, who died after being injured during the Jan. 6 riots at the US Capitol.
