#Braves vs. Mets: Jacob deGrom will end Amazin’s skid

Adios. Yoenis Cespedes was a no-show Sunday. Word is Cespedes, batting .161, is opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID concerns or concerns about playing time that would prevent him from obtaining big bonuses. But insiders tell Stitches that he saw a cardboard cutout of a wild boar in the stands.

Amazin! You gotta hand it to the Mets for providing a sense of normalcy in this COVID-19 plagued season. Only the Mets can find a way to shimmy a 162-game-length movie into a 60-game short film. Sort of like watching “Titanic” at double speed. A microcosm. Fans who thought they would be cheated out of a six month disaster? Somehow satisfied after 10 days. Good for them.

That said, we are siding with the 3-7 Mets on Monday. Jacob deGrom against the Braves’ Mike Soroka, a rematch of Opening Day. Aces are both 0-0 after two starts. 10 units on the less-than-Amazin’s.

O’s 5, Rays 1. Baltimore out-hit Tampa Bay 12-6. Yonny Chirinos and Tommy Milone pitched well. O’s bullpen was better. Trevor Bauer was worth the wait in second game of doubleheader. Went all seven innings, allowing two hits and the Reds beat the Tigers 4-0. Fractional gain takes us to -50 driessens.
