“Trigun Stampede Anime Announced for 2023, Produced by Orange”

Yasuhiro Nightow’s Trigun manga is getting a new anime. Titled Trigun Stampede, it is produced by 3D animation studio Orange and will be released in 2023.

The Trigun Stampede Twitter account says that the anime will have an “all-new staff and cast,” while the promo image’s text describes it as an “original new animation.” Meanwhile, Crunchyroll said that it will simulcast the show in “more than 200 countries and territories around the world” outside of Japan.

More information is set to be revealed at a Crunchyroll-hosted Anime Expo 2022 panel on July 2, with guests including Nightow, designer Kouji Tajima, Orange producers Kiyotaka Waki and Yoshihiro Watanabe, and Toho producer Katsuhiro Takei.

The previous Trigun anime series aired in 1998 with Satoshi Nishimura as director, Takahiro Yoshimatsu as character designer, and Madhouse as the animation production company. All three returned for 2010’s Trigun: Badlands Rumble movie.

The manga ran from 1995 to 1997 and was serialized in Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Shonen Captain magazine. It was released as three volumes by Tokuma Shoten and as two volumes by Shonengahosha. It was followed by 2007 to 2014’s Shonengahosha-published Trigun: Maximum, which ran in Young King Ours and was published under the Young King Comics label. Trigun: Maximum had 14 volumes.

Dark Horse Comics describes Trigun as:

On the forbidding desert world of Gunsmoke, a mysterious bounty hangs above the head of Vash the Stampede, and the gunslinging pacifist can’t seem to find a moment’s respite. Vash is no ordinary pistolero, packing a weapon capable of punching holes in a planet, which explains why the locals tremble at the very mention of his name. But sixty billion double dollars is no ordinary reward, and every trigger-happy psycho in creation is aiming to claim Vash dead or alive—preferably dead!
