A key visual for the second season of Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense has been released. At the center of the visual are the Maple Tree guild members as they ride atop a flying Syrup.

Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense 2 will premiere in Japan in January 2023. It was originally announced in January 2021 with a 2022 release date. The first season aired in 2020 with 12 episodes.

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Yuumikan and illustrated by Koin, which began in 2017 and has 14 volumes as of August 2022. The series is published under the Kadokawa Books label. 

Yen Press describes the first volume as:

IS SHE THE GAME’S LAST BOSS?! Though she doesn’t play many MMOs, Maple has either a natural talent or impossibly good luck, because by pouring every last stat point she has into Vitality, she’s created a character who can’t be hurt! Whether it’s physical attacks or magic or status effects, nothing poses a real threat. In no time at all, news spreads across the server about the adorable terror who can’t be defeated. While Maple may just be having fun, her broken build is sure to attract lots of unexpected attention…

The returning staff for Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense 2 includes Shin Oonuma as director, Fumihiko Shimo as series composer, Kazuya Hirata as character designer and chief animation director, Aoki Shinpei as weapon designer, Aboshimako and HB2P as creature designers, and Tarou Masuda as music composer. SILVER LINK is in charge of the animation production again. 

Hiroshi Maejima (Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense animation director) is joining Shinpei as co-weapon designer, while Mitsuaki Hori (Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense assistant animation director) and Chiptune’s Arisa Fujii (The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat sub-designer) are joining as creature designers.

Meanwhile, the returning cast includes Kaede Hondo as protagonist Maple, Ruriko Noguchi as Sally, Saori Hayami as Kasumi, Satomi Arai as Kanade, Noriaki Sugiyama as Kuromu, Satomi Sato as Iz, Ai Kakuma as Mai, and Nanaka Suwa as Yui.

Bofuri began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2016. A manga adaptation by Jirou Aimoto began in 2018.
