“Black storeowner rips looters for destroying her Bronx shop”
June 4, 2020 | 9:12am
The woman was filmed outside her shop in a video posted to YouTube on Tuesday.
“We’ve been here all night cleaning up. Tell me black lives matter. They’re lying,” the emotional woman, who is not identified, said. “You wanted to loot the store. You needed money. Get a job like I do. Stop stealing.”
The store in question isn’t identified in the clip, which is captioned “She is mad. They looted her place last Night The Bronx.” At one point, the camera pans to a pile of debris and broken glass on the sidewalk.
The woman identified herself as a part-time employee and co-owner.
“You said black lives matter — why don’t you choke me?” she said. “I’m black, look what you did to my store.”
“This is our neighborhood. We’re trying to build it up and you tear it down,” she continued.
Officials on Wednesday said New York City is seeing a clash of three factions — peaceful protesters, anarchists and looters from New York City — amid the demonstrations over George Floyd’s police-involved death.
The looters have been described as homegrown criminals who, as Mayor Bill de Blasio said, have “nothing to do with the protest whatsoever.”
