#Black Lotus Trailer Previews CG Action, Alessia Cara Song

The first trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus has dropped, offering a look at the show’s CG aesthetic and a preview of the original song “Feel You Now” by Alessia Cara. The Crunchyroll and Adult Swim original will release this Fall. 

Adult Swim uploaded an English-dubbed version of the trailer, while Crunchyroll uploaded the English-subbed version.

Originally announced in 2018, the anime will have 13 30-minute episodes. Based on the trailer, the plot will see a female replicant accidentally discovering that she has potent fighting capabilities, with the authorities hunting her down due to her mysterious true identity. The show takes place before Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 movie.

Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama are directing the series, with Shinichirō Watanabe as creative producer, Wes Gleason as voice director, and Joseph Chou as executive producer. Alcon Entertainment and Sola Digital Arts are producing the series.

The Japanese cast includes Arisa Shida as the female replicant Elle, Shinshu Fuji as spare parts junkyard owner Joseph, Takako Honda as fresh LAPD recruit Alani Davis, Takaya Hashi as Wallace Corporation founder and CEO Niander Wallace Sr, Takehito Koyasu as Niander Wallace Jr, Taiten Kusunoki as the Blade Runner Marlowe, Yoshiko Sakakibara as Josephine Grant, Hōchū Ōtsuka as Earl Grant, Takayuki Kinba as Doc Badger, Masane Tsukayama as Senator Bannister, Akio Nojima as Doctor M, and Kazuki Yao as Hooper.

Meanwhile, the English cast features Jessica Henwick as Elle, Will Yun Lee as Joseph, Samira Wiley as Alani Davis, Brian Cox as Niander Wallace Sr, Wes Bentley as Niander Wallace Jr, Josh Duhamel as Marlowe, Peyton List as Josephine Grant, Stephen Root as Earl Grant, Barkhad Abdi as Doc Badger, Gregg Henry as Senator Bannister, Henry Czerny as Doctor M, and Jason Spisak as Hooper.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is latest anime to be based on Blade Runner 2049. 2017 saw the release of Blade Runner Black Out 2022, an anime short produced by Cygames Pictures and directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, that served as a prologue to the movie.
