#Biden’s fake facts, Fauci’s revisionism and more

Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions:

This quote:

“It’s one thing for literally criminals to . . . go into the Capitol [and] kill a police
officer . . . ”
President Joe Biden, discussing Russian President Vladimir Putin’s comparison
of Russian protesters with the Jan. 6 Capitol rioters following their summit
Wednesday

We say: The DC medical examiner found that Capitol Police Officer Brian
Sicknick was not killed by protesters but died of natural causes the day after the
riot, following two strokes. That protesters stormed the building was outrageous
enough without Biden (and others) trying to make it seem worse.

Spot the difference:

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
AP
“We’ve always said, ‘Keep an open mind and continue to look.’”
Dr. Anthony Fauci, June 16, 2021, discussing whether scientists last year were open to the idea that the coronavirus escaped from a Chinese lab
“Someone will say: “Maybe it escaped from the lab.” . . . [But] how did it get in the lab? . . . Someone isolated it from the environment. So that’s the reason why I don’t spend a lot of time going in that circular argument.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci, May 4, 2020, laughing, as he dismissed the idea that the coronavirus escaped from a Chinese lab

We say: Deliberately or not, Fauci (along with much of the media) clearly refused
to take the lab-leak theory seriously and, indeed, went to great lengths to portray it as
nutty — until recently. No amount of revisionism will change that fact.

The New York Times story that touched on The Babylon Bee.

We say: The irony here is that the Gray Lady couldn’t recognize satire at the Bee, even in a story about Facebook’s failure to spot irony. The humor outlet was 100 percent right that the Times’ claim — that the Bee was a “right-leaning site” that “sometimes trafficked in misinformation under the guise of satire” — was defamatory. The Times issued a correction, but only after the Bee demanded one and some media, including The Post, highlighted the Gray Lady’s idiocy.

This press release:

“The trend of border apprehensions in May is a reduction of individuals (unique encounters) and families below the peak in 2019. Border numbers fluctuate, however, based on annual migration trends.”

White House press release, June 15, 2021

We say: The White House can use whatever method of counting it chooses to deny there’s a crisis, but Border Patrol data show just 132,856 encounters in May 2019 and more than 180,000 last month. And though Bidenites claim the surge is just seasonal, this year’s crossings far exceed normal spikes for this time of year.
