#Biden campaign not leasing a plane during the pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic is grounding Joe Biden’s campaign.

The former vice president’s campaign team hasn’t booked any air travel, leaving no need to lease a plane to jet around the country for political rallies, Axios reported on Monday.

With many swing states limiting the sizes of public gatherings, the Biden campaign is betting that adhering to health guidelines paves a path to the presidency.

It also allows Biden, who will accept the Democratic presidential nomination at a convention being held virtually, to contrast himself with President Trump who will be flying on Air Force One for campaign hangar rallies in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Arizona this week.

In Pennsylvania, indoor gatherings are limited to 25 people and outdoor gatherings do not allow more than 250 people.

Michigan limits the size of indoor gatherings to 10 people and outside gatherings to 100.

Wisconsin discourages large public gatherings but the rules vary county by county.

Biden campaign spokesman TJ Ducklo said Trump, by continuing to hold large events, is “gambling with American lives for his own political gain.”

Still, aides said Biden may still take to the skies before November, especially if states change their guidelines.

Candidates typically reveal their aircraft over the summer as the campaigns press into the final stages of the race.
