The latest Microsoft Edge update is a doozie. It includes a ton of new improvements to its coupon-clipping and price comparison tools, and more importantly, a brand new Efficiency mode that could intelligently extend your laptop’s battery life.

When Microsoft Edge detects that your laptop battery is getting low, it will now reduce its CPU and memory usage. Doing so will slow the browser down a bit, but it will also reduce power consumption and hopefully extend your laptop’s battery life.

If your laptop has a genuinely terrible battery life, I suggest toggling this feature in the Edge settings and leaving it enabled all the time. Open your Edge settings and go to the “System and Performance” tab to manually toggle Efficiency mode.

Along with Efficiency mode, Edge’s built-in password manager now features a “Change” button to help you quickly reset compromised passwords. The browser is also getting a price alert feature to tell you when products you care about are on sale, though this feature won’t arrive for several weeks.
