#Beastie Boys’ Mike D Auctioning Memorabilia for Charity

Beastie Boys’ Mike D is auctioning off some of his Beastie Boys memorabilia for charity, including platinum sales plaques and an MTV Video Music Award for the group’s “Intergalactic” short. See more below, and view the items on offer here.

The rapper’s mother, Hester Diamond, had previously been in possession of the trophies—in an Instagram post, he explained that he’d always given her the awards, but that she had passed away in 2020. “I was never comfortable holding onto or looking at these awards/accolades that we got through the years,” he wrote on Instagram.

Proceeds benefit the Good Eats Program, which provides free weekend meals to children experiencing food insecurity. In addition to the souvenirs from her son, Hester Diamond had her own vast art collection valued at $30 million and auctioned off late last year. In 2020, Beastie Boys released a career-retrospective greatest hits album, documentary, and photo book.
