#Barstool honcho Dave Portnoy briefly suspended from Twitter

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy was briefly suspended from Twitter Friday evening.

Portnoy’s account, which is followed by more than 2.5 million users, was inaccessible as the hashtag FreeDavePortnoy trended around 8:30 p.m.

Visitors to his profile were greeted by the message, “Account suspended,” followed by the words, “Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules.”

Around 9:10 p.m., the account was restored, and Portnoy tweeted from Montauk: “I’m back,” alongside a clip of a rant about winning from wrestler Ric Flair.

Twitter’s rules ban violence, harassment, sharing of private information and spam.

It’s unclear why the platform banned the 44-year-old “bro culture” icon.

“We’ve no comment at this time however the account you reference has been reinstated,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement to The Post.

The verified account “BFFs with Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards,” which represents the website’s weekly podcast, tweeted a screenshot of Portnoy’s disabled discount and wrote in a separate tweet, “you’ll want to tune into next week’s episode.”

The story on Portony’s verified Instagram account posted around 8 p.m. Friday evening contained the trending hashtag.

Portony joins Rose McGowan, The Proud Boys, Talib Kawli, former President Trump, The New York Post and hundreds of thousands of others who have been suspended from the platform.

Barstool Sports is headquartered in Manhattan.
