#Bandai’s Digimon Franchise & NFT Technology Are A Match Made In Heaven! » OmniGeekEmpire

With NFT now all the craze, many start-ups are starting to create virtual monsters as NFTs. From CryptoKitties and Polkamons to Axieinfinity and ILLUVIUM, there’s no shortage of Pokemon clones trying to cash in on the hype. However, there’s one IP that was literally made for this crypto tech and that’s Digimon! If Bandai Namco ever decided to use the Digimon IP to create NFT digital collectibles, I’m 100% on board with it!

Although they need no introduction, I’ll given them one anyways. Digimon: Digital Monsters is a Japanese media franchise encompassing virtual pet toys, anime, manga, video games, films and a trading card game. The franchise focuses on the eponymous creatures, who inhabit a “Digital World”, a parallel universe that originated from Earth’s various communication networks.

Digimon hatch from types of eggs which are called Digi-Eggs. They evolve via a process called “Digivolution” which changes their appearance and increases their powers. There are currently over 1400 Digimon that are prime to be turned into NFT collectible monsters, and not just collectibles, but even more. What makes Digimon unique is how you raise your Digimon. Every Digimon is comprised of digivolution, gender, level, family tree, attribute, and types. And if you factor in viruses, you have yourselves a recipe for dope rarity opportunities.

This franchise has the hallmarks that make collectible NFT so much fun and offers a unique gameplay aspect that is missing in most NFT collectibles. I mean, it’s cool to collect monsters, but if you’re like me then at some point you want to battle with your monster to see if you got the strongest. Another aspect about Digimon that fits perfectly with NFT is the blockchain staking aspect. The lore of Digimon states that they’re digital creatures who live in the Digital World, and with a lot of these NFT monster collectible like Polkamon talking about staking your collection, it adds to the immersion when you send your Digimon to the internet to “stake”!
