#Baltimore Sun says Twitter account was hacked

“Baltimore Sun says Twitter account was hacked”

The Baltimore Sun said its Twitter account had been compromised after a slew of vulgar messages were tweeted out Monday afternoon.

The publication apologized for any confusion and deleted the rogue tweets soon after they were discovered.

The Sun acknowledged the issue and tweeted: “To our followers: Some offensive tweets appeared on this account after an unknown user briefly got access to post here. We have taken steps to remove that access. Our apologies.”

A rep for the Sun didn’t immediately respond to requests for further comment on how the account was compromised.

The Baltimore Sun’s Twitter account currently has 344,800 followers.

The daily newspaper is owned by Alden Global Capital, which bought the Sun’s publisher, Tribune Publishing in 2021 for $630 million.
