Veteran mecha animator and anime director Masami Oobari (Detonator Orgun, Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector) has released a new animated short titled Jokaku Gattai Oshirobots, which is the first part of the MIXI_ANIME anime project. It is the first anime brand from the Japanese IT company mixi. 

The short anime showcases the main characters taking part in action-packed battles between large moving robotic castles. The MIXI_ANIME project in general will feature reimaginings of historical Japanese castles that can transform into giant robots combined with each other. 

The short, in particular, highlights the transformations of the Kumamoto, Takamatsu, and Aizu-Wakamatsu Castles respectively. The anime will follow a group of children and the Shirodama (the souls of the castles who are actually historical army commanders) that join forces to pilot the castles in battles. 

The animation production of Jokaku Gattai Oshirobots is handled by studios ZynX and Tatsunoko Production. Studio G-1NEO also provides additional animation production cooperation, which is the studio founded by Oobari and his wife, character designer and animator Atsuko Ishida.
