#Tua Tagovailoa named Dolphins’ starting quarterback

Ryan Fitzpatrick has posted two consecutive blowout victories, but the Miami Dolphins officially are making their much-anticipated change at quarterback.

First-round pick Tua Tagovailoa will make his first NFL start following this week’s bye when Miami faces the Los Angeles Rams at home on Nov. 1, according to multiple reports.

The lefty-throwing former Alabama star made his NFL debut in the closing minutes of Sunday’s 24-0 win over the Jets, completing both of his pass attempts for nine yards before running out the clock.

It was Tagovailoa’s first appearance since suffering a season-ending hip injury with the Crimson Tide in November 2019, and he FaceTimed his parents from the field following Sunday’s game.

The Dolphins are off to a 3-3 start, one game behind the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East, with Fitzpatrick completing a career-high 70.1 percent of his passes with a 95.0 quarterback rating.
