With the French League as well as another summer tournament called Quai54 canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a new event called the Amiral has been arranged by professional players in Paris.
Ntilikina and two other French-born NBA players are slated to participate later this week. The Knicks’ 6-foot-5 point guard from Strasbourg will be joined by Pistons lottery pick Sekou Doumbouya, a close friend of Ntilikina, and Adam Mokoka of the Bulls. French national team players Andrew Albicy and Edwin Jackson, among French leaguers, will also compete.
Ntilikina was pictured in promotional posters for the summer-league event and sources confirmed he plans to play.
Earlier this week, Ntilikina’s Instagram indicated he had signed up with the French publisher “Michel Lafon Publishing” to print his autobiography, according to French Knicks Pod.
From March to June, Ntilikina spent most of his time in either Miami or New York.
With Ntilikina getting a run at this French summer league, it calls into question whether he’ll fly back to the United States if the NBA holds a bubble minicamp in Chicago for the eight teams excluded from the Orlando restart.
The Chicago bubble would be voluntary for all players, The Post has reported.
Knicks president Leon Rose is Ntilikina’s former agent and his career appears to have new life. During his lone interview, Rose said the 2017 lottery pick “given the right circumstances, I think can really prosper.” That appears to have been a shot at the Knicks’ poor history of player development.
