“Reborn to Master the Blade Key Releases New Trailer, Reveals January 9 Premiere”

The Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire anime adaptation has received a second trailer and January 9 Japanese premiere date. Information about the theme songs and additional cast members were also revealed.

The show’s opening theme is “DAY1” by AUO feat. MORISAKI WIN, while the ending song is “Self Hug・ Big Hug” by Nishio Yui. The former is previewed in the new trailer.

Meanwhile, the newly announced cast members include Atsushi Tamaru as Rafael Bilford, Yuuichi Nakamura as Leon Olta, Konishi Katsuyuki as Black Mask, and Mugihito as King Inglis.

Reborn to Master the Blade is an adaptation of the Hobby Japan-published light novels written by Hayaken and illustrated by Nagu. The series began in November 2019 and has eight volumes as of August 2022. The light novels are published under the HJ Bunko label.

J Novel Club describes the plot as:

From his deathbed, Hero-King Inglis, the divine knight and master of all he surveys, gazes down on the empire he built with his mighty hand. Having devoted his life to statecraft and his subjects’ well-being, his one unfulfilled wish is to live again, for himself this time: a warrior’s life he’d devoted himself to before his rise to power. His patron goddess, Alistia, hears his plea and smiles upon him, flinging his soul into the far future. Goddesses work in mysterious ways—not only is Inglis now the daughter of a minor noble family, but at her first coming-of-age ceremony at 6, she’s found ineligible to begin her knighthood! However, for a lady of Inglis’s ambition, this is less a setback and more the challenge she was (re)born to overcome. “It’s not the blood that runs through your veins that makes a knight; it’s the blood you shed on the battlefield!” The curtain rises on the legend of an extraordinary lady squire reborn to master the blade!

Naoyuki Kuzuya (Bikini Warriors) is directing the anime with Mitsutaka Hirota (EDENS ZERO) as series composer, Reiichirou Oofuji (Angel’s 3Piece! weapon designer, The Illustration Guide Book of Military Uniforms illustrator) as character designer, Kenta Higashiooji (Princess Connect! Re: Dive Season 2 co-music composer) as music composer, and Chiko Miyagawa (Fairy Ranmaru), Lion Matsuda (Fairy Ranmaru Ep 9 Heavens Space animation assistant animation director) and Maki Fukui (Selection Project animation director) as sub-character designers.

Additionally, Oofuji, Miyagawa, Masayuki Nomoto (Fairy Ranmaru main animator), and Matsuda are serving as chief animation directors. Studio Comet is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Akari Kitou as protagonist Inglis Eucus, Ai Kakuma as Rafinha Bilford, Tomori Kusunoki as Leons Olfa, and Wakana Kuramochi as Liselotte Arcia.

Reborn to Master the Blade began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in March 2019. A manga adaptation by Moto Kuromura started in December 2019.
