Artists have to participate in interviews with people to promote themselves and whatever they have going on at the moment. Ari Lennox recently did one that should’ve gone off without a hitch. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, as she may be done with interviews altogether.

Ari Lennox was a guest on Podcast and Chill when host Macgyver’ MacG’ Mukwevho asked her a question that left the singer visibly uncomfortable. The South African podcast host is known for his controversial takes during interviews, and this one was no different.

The wild conversation proved to be a breaking point for Ari, who went to Twitter to announce she’s no longer doing interviews.

“And I’m never doing another interview again,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “I been on this sober high for weeks. Genuine gratefulness and happiness. But then… men. Every time… never fails.”

Ari Lennox and MacG were speaking about “Pop,” one of her records on Shea Butter Baby, and the South African podcast host made a note to ask the Dreamville artist about the raunchy lyrics on the outro of the song. Those specific lyrics happen to be, “If you really love me / I’ll fuck you good/Fuck you good, fuck you good/Treat you how you should.”

MacG proceeded to push the button and ask if anyone is “fucking” Ari good, which startled her. The podcast host defended himself by saying Ari spoke similar words in her song. Ari was confused and tried to remember her lyrics before realizing she did say something along those lines.

Last month, Ari did speak on her November arrest in Amsterdam. The Washington, D.C. native claimed she was racially profiled by security who “hate Black people,” and targeted her at an airport. Ari regretted her reaction to the “racism” brought on by police that day in her explanation.

“My only regret is my reaction to the racism and discrimination I experienced,” Ari confessed. “I would like to explain what happened to me but KLM has made it clear that they never cared to hear it from jump. It’s painful being silenced like this. It’s painful what I went through. I’m not ok.”
