Both platforms were reported offline by DownDetector.com around 1:49 p.m. on Wednesday.
Users are taking to Twitter, still up-and-running, to share their grievances with the social media disruption.
“everyone opening twitter to check if their instagram is down too #instagramdown,” tweeted one user.
“That time again… #instagramdown and we all rush to check Twitter. And this time? Facebook is down too! #Facebookdown,” added another.
By 2:22 p.m., over 65,000 users had reported Instagram to DownDetector. As of 2:23, nearly 14,000 had logged Facebook’s error.
Both platforms are currently back online after the errors, which Facebook has not yet explained.
At the time of publication on this story, Facebook, which also owns Instagram, has not returned The Post’s request for comment.
