“#London Jewelers lights up 2021 with a new jewelry salon”
It’s a fresh, new look for London Jewelers’ flagship at Americana Manhasset, where all that glitters is silver and gold.
The venerable, family-owned jeweler is ushering in 2021 with an ultra-luxe, just-renovated jewelry salon, where a modern-meets-Art-Deco vibe is brilliantly lit and forward-looking. “We always think that when you walk into a jewelry store to buy something precious, all the light should symbolize warmth, hope and love,” says Candy Udell, London’s president.
A textured glass façade heralds the open, airy space inspired by the luxury of an elegant Parisian apartment. Udell, who re-imagined the store, sourced the artisanal lighting fixtures in Paris. Standout giant glass orbs and an enormous necklace-like golden chandelier help add to the shimmer of the 4,000-square foot space.
A world-class collection of fine jewelry from brands including Buccellati, Chopard, David Webb, Gucci, Messika, Mikimoto, Piaget, Pomellato, Roberto Coin and Vhernier are illuminated in mirrored, marble and Lucite display cases. There’s an area dedicated to Chanel Fine Jewelry highlighted with a golden screen that is a reproduction of the original one found in Coco Chanel’s apartment. And a Bvlgari boutique proffering an expanded collection of the brand’s coveted jewelry, watches and accessories is show-stopping. Center stage of the redo, overstuffed chairs and couches beckon for lounging amid the luxury. “We wanted to welcome people with a residential feel,” says Udell, who is looking forward to entertaining at the store soon, and encourages people to relax here.
She believes that after four generations and 94 years later, the business should feel like a home. For the luckiest, there’s a private VIP room for perusing all the precious treasure on offer in a discreet, exclusive environment that includes a fully-stocked bar and an entire wall comprised of gemstones. After a tough year, this sparkling renovation reflects optimism for 2021. Says Udell, “We’ll all be celebrating again soon.”
