#Metro Boomin Roasts 21 Savage Over Shannon Sharpe Interview ‘Lie’

Metro Boomin has mocked 21 Savage for telling a “lie” during his interview with Shannon Sharpe.

On his Instagram Stories on Wednesday (January 24), Metro filmed himself watching his Savage Mode collaborator’s conversation with the former NFL star and offered some hilarious commentary on it.

“Salute Uncle Shay Shay on the podcast, but n-ggas sit on his couch and just feel like they can say anything,” he began. “Look at this n-gga just looking for a lie to tell.”

Metro then plays a snippet of the interview where 21 claims to have won a fifth grade spelling bee competition by accurately spelling “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

The producer, unconvinced by the rapper’s story, then says over the clip: “This n-gga saying he won a spelling bee in fifth grade spelling supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

Metro also wrote on the video: “You probably read 3000 books a year too huh @21savage,” in a reference to Katt Williams’ claim during his viral appearance on Sharpe’s podcast earlier this month.

Metro then posted pictures of 21 and Williams drinking alcohol during the interview, joking: “Unc got something in that cognac.”

During his sit-down with Shannon Sharpe, 21 Savage admitted that his American Dream biopic isn’t real after all.

“That was a parody,” he said. “I feel like it could be [a real movie] one day. They’ll hate on it now, though, ’cause they going to be like, ‘What the fuck 21 Savage deserve a story for? […] What he did?’”

An official press release for the film was sent out by Epic Records earlier this month and claimed that Donald Glover and Stranger Things‘ Caleb McLaughlin would share the role of the London-born star.

The movie ended up being a music video for 21’s song “all of me,” which did actually feature Glover and McLaughlin as the Slaughter Gang boss at different ages. Metro Boomin also makes an appearance in the clip.

The stunt also helped drum up promotion for 21 Savage’s new album, also called American Dream, which was released on January 12 and boasts appearances from Young Thug, Travis Scott, Doja Cat and more.

The project recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after earning 133,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, handing 21 his fourth chart-topper. It also marks his largest sales tally as a solo artist.

American Dream is projected to hold onto the top spot on the chart next week with an additional 69,000 units.
