#Ani DiFranco Announces New Album Revolutionary Love, Shares New Song: Listen

Ani DiFranco is returning in 2021 with her 22nd album: Revolutionary Love is out January 29 via her label, Righteous Babe Records. The announcement of the follow-up to 2017’s Binary (which featured a collaboration with Justin Vernon) is accompanied by the release of the album’s title track. Listen to it below.

Revolutionary Love was inspired by Valarie Kaur’s book See No Stranger. It was made in collaboration with Brad Cook, Phil Cook, Brevan Hampden, Matt Douglas, Yan Westerlund, and DiFranco’s longtime touring bandmates Terence Higgins and Todd Sickafoose.

“It’s about carrying the energy of love and compassion into the center of our social movements and making it the driving force,” DiFranco said of the new album. “It’s about finding it within ourselves to stay curious about our opponents instead of shutting down.”

Ani DiFranco’s new memoir No Walls and the Recurring Dream was released last year. Earlier this year, she performed on a song by Pieta Brown and S. Carey called “We Are Not Machines” for Eaux Claires’ “For Wisconsin” get-out-the-vote initiative.
