#Andrew Lloyd Webber is ‘optimistic’ for Broadway’s return

The King of Broadway has decreed that he is “optimistic” about the return of live theatre to New York

Broadway composer Andrew Lloyd Webber stopped by CNBC’s “Closing Bell” on Friday to share his sentiment that shows will indeed return to New York stages that have been closed down since March.

“Well, as you probably know I’ve been fighting to get theaters reopened and indeed all forms of indoor and music spaces, up and down, not only just Britain but all over America,” said the composer, who earlier this year was the recipient of one of the earliest coronavirus vaccines.

Webber noted that his worldwide phenomenon, “The Phantom of the Opera,” has resumed shows in South Korea after the cast quarantined for 15 days.

“It clearly does depend a great deal on the vaccine but there have been a number of measures, a load of measures that have been applied in say Korea, and in Japan, for example, which have mitigated the effects of the virus enormously,” said Webber.
