#NYC carjacking suspect says he just wanted to go to Florida

The New Hampshire man charged with stealing a car that had a 2-year-old girl inside claimed he was just trying to get to Florida when he jumped into the Brooklyn family’s ride — and didn’t realize the child was in the back seat, prosecutors said Saturday.

Tyler Hall, 33, was arraigned Saturday in Brooklyn Criminal Court on multiple charges related to the harrowing incident near the Metropolitan Detention Center, in which he snatched the Honda Pilot as a 34-year-old mom was trying to secure her toddler, Zoey, in her car seat.

Hall allegedly told cops “that he came from New Hampshire a few days ago and he was trying to get a car to go to Florida,” Assistant District Attorney Jordan Rossman said in court.

“He didn’t know there was a kid in the backseat,” Rossman said.

Hall, who has a long rap sheet, ditched the car near Brooklyn Bridge Park. The girl was found unharmed inside the vehicle.

He faces a slew of charges including robbery, vehicular assault, grand larceny and reckless endangerment. Hall, who did not enter a plea, was held on $100,000 bail.

During the court appearance, Judge Adam Perlmudder noted Hall’s “extensive” out of state criminal record, which includes at least 40 contacts with law enforcement.

Hall is next due in court Thursday.
