“#’America’s Got Talent’ Jonathan Goodwin injured in accident”
A daredevil escape artist was crushed by two cars in a caught-on-camera stunt gone horribly awry for “America’s Got Talent: Extreme.”
The sickening video, obtained by TMZ, shows Jonathan Goodwin, 41, get sandwiched between the vehicles, which are suspended 70 feet in the air, instead of narrowly dropping between them and onto an air mattress below. The cars erupted into a fireball on impact.
For the stunt, Goodwin was supposed to free himself from a straight jacket while dangling from his feet between the two swinging cars, the gossip site reported.
But instead of going out without a hitch, Goodwin then fell to the ground, hitting his head — which the clip does not show.
He was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. His current condition is not known.
The accident was so grisly, the crew on set thought Goodwin was dead, TMZ reported.
“He was responsive and was immediately taken to the hospital where he is continuing to receive medical care,” a spokesperson for “AGT: Extreme” said in a statement.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family as we await further updates on his condition.”
The nearly deadly slipup happened Thursday night at Atlanta Motor Speedway during rehearsal for the heart-racing spinoff of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” according to local news outlet 11 Alive.
The experienced thrill-seeker posted a selfie to Twitter on Oct. 2, writing, “I’m in Atlanta rigging a new stunt which I’m super excited about! Cranes and cars and explosives oh my! What’s everyone else up to?”

“AGT: Extreme” began filming its first season earlier this month.
According to an NBC press release, the series “will showcase the most outrageous, unique and jaw-dropping acts of enormous scale and magnitude.”
The winner of the death-defying show — which will be judged by WWE star Nikki Bella, X Games gold medalist Travis Pastrana and executive producer Simon Cowell — will get a $500,000 prize. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
The Welsh stuntman is no stranger to performing dangerous TV stunts and was a finalist on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2019.
In 2020, Goodwin reached the semifinals of “America’s Got Talent.” In one stunt, he caught fire as he attempted to release himself from a pair of handcuffs.
