#Runs won’t come easy again

The Mets are scoring the fewest runs per game of any team in the National League and will look to get out of their funk in Philadelphia on Saturday against their former pitcher Zack Wheeler.

Wheeler has been dominant at Citizens Bank Ballpark, posting a career 8-1 record with a 2.82 ERA in 16 starts, despite averaging just 6.8 strikeouts per nine innings in Philadelphia as compared to his career mark of 8.6 strikeouts per nine innings.

The Mets’ offense has been better on the road than at home, but they still have been shaky in road games, averaging 3.2 runs per game and their 0.8 home runs per game are the fewest in the MLB.

The Mets have avoided being at the bottom of the National League standings, however, thanks to good pitching. They will start Taijuan Walker, who has yet to surrender a home run in 21 innings across four starts, giving up two earned runs or fewer in each start and allowing 5.1 hits per nine innings.

The Phillies strike out at the sixth-highest rate of any lineup in the league and the Mets have a top 10 bullpen coupled with the highest ground ball rate in the MLB, so Saturday’s clash is setting up to be a pitcher’s duel.

The Play: Mets vs. Phillies Total Under 7 runs.
