#All of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Suits, Ranked

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland feature more Spider-Man costumes than Spider-Man has ever had before. Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man films focus on a single costume while Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 feature only two Spider-Man costumes (aside from an early homemade suit). Tom Holland’s three Spider-Man films, on the other hand, have Peter Parker wearing seven.

The latest MCU film Spider-Man: No Way Home introduces the Black & Gold and Integrated suits. With so many costumes part of Spider-Man’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, each one brings a unique feel and look to Spider-Man. Here are all of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man suits, ranked.

7 Homemade Suit (Spider-Man: Homecoming)Spider-Man-Homecoming-DIY-suit

Before Peter Parker meets Tony Stark, Parker wears a homemade costume he designed himself. The homemade suit revealed in Captain America: Civil War and used in Spider-Man: Homecoming is a goofy-looking low-budget design that reflects Spider-Man’s humble origins. With that being said, the suit is very well-made considering the fact that a young high-schooler quickly designs the suit on a budget.

The suit is an important visual representation that Spider-Man does not need the resources of Iron Man to be a superhero. A cheap hoodie and goggles, however, do not make for the most visually appealing Spider-Man costume, which is why the homemade suit ranks at the bottom of the list.

6 Iron Spider Suit (Avengers: Infinity War)

Iron Spider Suit
Marvel Studios, Sony.

Teased at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming and later used by Peter Parker in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the Iron Spider is featured in some of the most iconic moments of the Infinity Saga. The Iron Spider armor is the second suit given to Parker by Stark when recognizing Spider-Man as an Avenger. In-universe, the high-tech armor is incredibly efficient and advanced. But aesthetically, it is not the suit that best captures the core spirit of Spider-Man.

Iron Spider is too significant of a departure when Peter Parker is a poor student that creates a suit for himself. Fans already disapprove of the Stark suit being too high-tech, but the Iron Spider takes it another step further. Tom Holland does not wear a costume for the Iron Spider suit, instead, it is entirely CGI. The suit may look decent, but is too overdesigned and does not use color as effectively as Tom Holland’s other Spider-Man suits.

5 Stealth Suit (Spider-Man: Far From Home)Night-Monkey-Spider-Man-Far-From-Home-1

Referred to as “Night Monkey” in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the Stealth suit is a S.H.I.E.L.D. design that Parker temporarily wears during his time in Prague. The suit is intended to help prevent connect Spider-Man to Parker as Mysterio’s drones follow Peter wherever he goes. The Stealth suit is a gorgeous design that looks completely practical. That being said, it is not necessarily a great signature Spider-Man costume as it intentionally avoids representing Spider-Man.

4 Black and Gold Suit (Spider-Man: No Way Home)

Black and Gold Spider-Man Suit
Marvel Studios, Sony.

The Black and Gold suit from Spider-Man: No Way Home is the second black Spider-Man suit that Tom Holland’s Spidey wears in the MCU. The first black suit, the “Night Monkey” Stealth suit featured in Spider-Man: Far From Home, refrains from being too distinctly Spider-Man. With the Black and Gold suit, that is not the case. Visually, the Black and Gold suit is stunning, effectively blending gold into the rest of its dark palette.

Marketing for Spider-Man: No Way Home reveals mystic energy being used with the suit. As Spider-Man confronts villains from the Multiverse, he requires new tools to help him prepare for his greatest challenge yet.

3 Integrated Suit (Spider-Man: No Way Home)

Spider-Man: No Way Home prominently features the new Integrated suit. The Integrated suit is a more simplistic design than the Iron Spider, implementing elements of both the Iron Spider and the Upgraded suit from Far From Home. The presence of fabrics on the Integrated suit makes it an improvement over the Iron Spider where the absence of fabrics makes the Iron Spider feel very mechanical and unlike Spider-Man. A combination of armor and fabric allows the Integrated suit to appear high-tech while still keeping the suit grounded enough to appear as if it is something Spider-Man would wear.

2 Stark Suit (Captain America: Civil War)Spider-Man-Homecoming

The Stark Suit, gifted to Peter Parker by Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War, is the first traditional Spider-Man suit audiences see in the MCU. It also represents Spider-Man’s signature red and blue color scheme. Whether it’s Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, or Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, their main suits all share in common the traditional Spider-Man red and blue. The Stark Suit appears in all of Spider-Man’s appearances in the MCU before No Way Home, appearing in Civil War, Homecoming, Infinity War, and Far From Home. While the suit is not visible in Avengers: Endgame, Parker continues to wear the Stark suit underneath the Iron Spider.

Tony equips the Stark Suit with a myriad of useful features including web wings, a reconnaissance drone, combat modes, and the built-in A.I., Karen. Peter learns not to have an overreliance on the suit’s features. However, that doesn’t change the fact that the suit is a marvelous piece of technology that greatly enhances the user’s abilities.

1 Upgraded Suit (Spider-Man: Far From Home)

Upgraded Spider-Man Suit
Marvel Studios, Sony.

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter accepts that he will never become the next Iron Man. Peter Parker is not Tony Stark, and the simple realization of crafting your own legacy helps Peter to understand his role and responsibility as Spider-Man. Peter uses the available technology at his disposal to create an upgraded version of the Spider-Man suit. The suit is personalized for Peter’s needs and to his personal liking, with Peter adopting a brand new red and black color scheme.

Tom Holland revealed in an interview with Comic Book Movie that the upgraded suit is his favorite Spider-Man costume:

“I think my favourite would have to be the red and black suit. I really like it because I’ve worn it so much and I think we’ve really changed the image of what Spider-Man is.”

The upgraded suit is the second Spider-Man suit that Peter designs in the MCU. Unlike the homemade suit, however, the upgraded suit represents how Parker would create a Spider-Man suit with advanced technology and resources. Additionally, the upgraded suit appears similar to the first-ever Spider-Man costume in Spider-Man’s first appearance in 1962; Steve Ditko’s Amazing Fantasy #15.
