#HP Announces 7 Affordable Gaming Monitors with High Refresh Rates – Review Geek

HP just announced a new line of X-Series gaming monitors, all of which pack 165Hz refresh rates and FreeSync Premium technology for under $500. While all 7 of the monitors share a bunch of similarities, each model comes in a different size, resolution, or form factor to help it stand out from the crowd.

Let’s start with similarities. Each monitor features slim bezels, a stand that can raise or tilt the screen, and VESA mounting hardware for those who want to use monitor arms. Port-wise, they pack a DisplayPort 1.4 port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a headphone jack. While resolutions differ from screen to screen, all 7 models reach up to 400 nits of brightness (350 for the curved models), boast a 165Hz refresh rate, support AMD FreeSync Premium, and have an Adaptive Sync tech for compatibility with AMD and NVIDIA GPUs.

Two models are available today—the $260 HP X27 and $340 HP X27q. As the names suggest, these are very similar 27-inch monitors. The only difference is that the HP X27 has an FHD 1080p display, while the X27q has a QHD 1440p panel. Interestingly, both of these monitors can rotate and swivel, while other models in the X-Series cannot.

In August we’ll see a larger version of these two monitors called the $389.99 HP X32. It features a 32-inch QHD display, which is quite large for the price. An ultra-wide X34 variant will arrive this September—at $460 it sports a 3440 x 1440 resolution and has a 21:9 aspect ratio. (I should point out that non-gaming monitors often have a 4K resolution with HDR support at this price, though they usually lack a high refresh rate.)

And come October, HP will drop three new curved monitors. There’s the 27-inch X27c with an FHD resolution for $260, the 27-inch X27qc with a QHD resolution at $350, and the very large, 32.5-inch X32c with an FHD display for $310.
