The beloved UP Fair—the annual week-long advocacy-led music fair led by the University of the Philippines—is back to stage its live festival return after almost three years due to the pandemic.

The university fair’s hip hop-focused concert called ‘Kalye Tunes’ will take place on the second day of the festivities, January 15, at Sunken Garden in the University of the Philippines Diliman campus in Quezon City, Philippines.

Among the announced acts are kiyo, Al James, Loonie, Abra, Morobeats, Kartell’em, Zae, Because, Ron Henley, Pricetagg, SHNTI, and more.

Tickets go on sale today (January 25) and are available on-ground at EMC² Fraternity Tambayan, 3rd Floor, Melchor Hall, UP Diliman. Those who wish to attend can also purchase tickets online via Ticketmax, ranging between PHP150 and PHP300.

This is the first time that UP Fair will resume its live events since 2020. The 2021 and 2022 editions were both held online.

This year, UP Fair will be held from February 14 to February 18, 2023, with each day dedicated to a specific theme: REV (Tuesday), Kalye Tunes (Wednesday), Dimensions (Thursday), Polaris (Friday), and Cosmos (Saturday).

This year’s theme is “Kaisa Ka Sa Musika” (You Are One With The Music). In a statement shared on January 21, UP Fair recalled how their last live edition in 2020 came at an extraordinarily challenging time, with the pandemic upending many institutions in the country, compounded by the crisis during former president Rodrigo Duterte’s regime.

They wrote, “Sa ating muling pagtitipon sa Sunken Garden, isapuso natin ang kasaysayan ng ating bansa na siyang kasaysayan din ng walang humpay na pakikibaka para sa ating kultura, kabuhayan, at karapatan.” (As we re at the Sunken Garden, let’s take our country’s history to heart, which is also the history of the relentless struggle for our culture, livelihood, and rights.)
